Risk notice
This site explains how to handle an exchange account, not whether to use one. Because an account is where money goes, the risks come first.
You can lose everything you put in
Crypto prices can fall sharply within hours. Leveraged and derivative products magnify losses and can wipe out the whole deposit. Past prices say nothing about future ones. Only use money whose loss would not change your life.
The exchange holds your assets
Keeping assets on an exchange means the exchange is the custodian. It can suspend withdrawals or restrict an account because of technical faults, regulatory demands or its own risk checks, and in extreme cases the exchange itself can fail. No account security setting removes this layer of risk.
Rules differ by country
Countries treat crypto differently; some restrict or prohibit exchange services, and tax reporting rules vary. Exchanges limit the products available to you based on where you live. Check the rules in your country before you start, give the exchange your true residence and identity, and do not use tools to hide your location. This site does not describe ways around regional restrictions.
What these guides are
- They are explanations of public exchange rules. They are not investment, legal or tax advice.
- Exchange rules change often. Every guide names the pages it relied on and the month they were checked; after that month the rule may have moved. The exchange’s live page is the one that counts.
- Care is taken, but errors are possible. Decisions made on the basis of this site are your own. If you spot an error, the contact page says how to report it.
